Resolves "Yes" if there is credible reporting, or court documents, showing that Ben Delo (co-founder of BitMEX) has been sentenced to prison for any reason.
Resolves "No" if this does not happen by Jan 1st, 2030. Part of a large question series.
Question is global -- prison time in any country can count.
The imprisonment can be for any type of crime.
Being detained for a little while does not count, it must be a prison term.
Note that Delo pled guilty to breaking United States Bank Secrecy Act violations, and received a 30 month probation sentence and £10m fine. This would not count.
If anything ever did happen to Ben Delo unexpectedly, I imagine there’d be a massive legal scramble around his assets, especially considering the international nature of his holdings. These kinds of situations often highlight the importance of having proper estate planning in place, especially when crypto is involved. I recently came across a great resource on this topic from a Probate attorney Scottsdale — they cover a lot of scenarios related to high-value and digital assets. Definitely made me think twice about my own setup.
