On 4/19/2025, the United States Supreme Court issued a directive "not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States" in the case of 50 Venezuelan men set to be deported to Venezuela under the Alien Enemies Act (A.A.R.P., ET AL. V. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF U.S., ET AL.).
By the time of resolution (8/01), will the government have acted in direct defiance of the order, specifically by removing one of the class members from the United States without Court approval? Resolution will be aided by formal contempt of court proceedings, in progress or complete, or other legal consequences, but will not be limited to them. However, I anticipate the only divergence in my resolution vs. one based strictly on legal consequences would be in cases of deep consistutional crisis. I will not enter the market to stay impartial.
