Towana Looney had her surgery on November 25th 2024.

The previous record to beat would be 56 days (March 16th 2024 to May 11th 2024).

Resolves YES if Towana Looney is alive and her kidney is still functional and not removed after a total of 57 days.

This question specifically regards instances of genetically modified pig kidneys being used for xenotransplantation into living patients (ie. Richard Slayman and Lisa Pisano)

  • Update 2025-17-01 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): - YES will be resolved if there is no new news regarding Towana Looney's transplantation status as the market close date approaches.

    • There may be a delay between the market close and resolution to account for late updates.

Towana Looney does not appear to have been in the public eye much after her initial interviews. Because the date is drawing closer, and I am assuming her transplant failing would be a newsworthy event, I am planning to resolve YES if there is no new news either way on the current status. I realize this leaves a chance of premature resolution since her original announcement was delayed, but I figure it is preferable to having the market open indefinitely if she has no more appearances.

I am willing to consider a delay between close and resolution, or some other method if anyone feels strongly.
