@vibhav I'm personally a bit confused about this if anyone would like to explain. Allen was the heavy favorite for a while. I am under the impression that week 18 did not change anything, despite Allen not playing and Lamar playing the whole game. Supposedly the first team All Pro decided that Lamar was MVP due to historical results? Is there a correlation between how the All Pros and MVP are decided? Are we simply relying on history? Why is Lamar in front now?
@vibhav I believe it's pretty much the same people voting for both so picking Allen for 2nd team and then picking him as MVP makes no sense.
@Riley12 @vibhav yeah some people did it (Lamar had only 45 first place AP voted last year but 49 MVP votes) last year but not enough that it will probably flip. Plus their reasoning for flipping last year was something stupid like "dak/purdy is the better QB this year, but Lamar is the better football player" so likely that would just play in Lamar's direction again.
If it doesn't and Allen wins then it's kinda clear there is a like a concerted effort or group chat to split the votes (Lamar getting almost unanimous last year was incredibly bizarre if you look at the stats, sure they also got the 1 seed?) which would make me want to throw the entire pool of MVP voters out (even as somebody who wants Allen to be MVP).
Advanced stats guy (DVOA most famously) and the lore is he is the only person to vote Allen 1st last year. Earlier this season (maybe 5 weeks or so ago on a radio show) he indicated he was leaning Jackson
@StopPunting yea it was either Jackson or Allen. I think it depends on what metric we use. MVP Race after Week 9: Jackson and Allen tied for top spot, Mahomes drops, Goff gaining steam - AS USA
maybe it resolves as N/A if it's one of them?
